- Don’t share or wear a Rudraksha Mala used by someone else.
- One may remove the Rudraksha mala while consuming non-vegetarian food or alcohol and wear it again afterwards. However, this depends on personal belief, as scriptures also state that Rudraksha can be worn at all times without restrictions.
- Remove it during sexual intercourse and while visiting funeral grounds.
- Remove before bathing, as soap can dry out the bead. Wear it again afterwards.

Energising the Rudraksha
- For a single bead, chant the respective Beej Mantra
- For combinations or malas, chant “Om Namah Shivaya” (universal mantra for all Rudraksha)
- You may also touch your Rudraksha to a Shivlingam and chant “Om Namah Shivaya” 11 times to infuse energy.
- For further energization, you can keep the beads in a deep freeze once a month overnight, then oil them the next day before wearing.
