How to Care for Your Siddha Mala
- Clean the mala once a month with a soft brush and apply a little almond oil.
- Before wearing it again, chant “Om Namah Shivaya” 11 times.
- Remove it before attending a funeral or during intimate relations.
- If consuming alcohol or non-vegetarian food, you may remove it and wear it again afterwards.
- Women can wear the Siddha Mala during all phases of life, including menstruation.
- For regular energization, touch it to a Shivling and chant Om Namah Shivaya 11 times.
A Rudrabhishek offers additional spiritual energization.
- Do not wear a Rudraksha that has already been worn by someone else.
- Keep separate malas for daily wear and mantra chanting (Japa).
- Avoid immersing the Mala in heavy liquids such as Ghee or Honey as they may enter the crevices of the bead and make it difficult to wear.
