How to Care for Your Siddha Mala

• Clean the mala once a month with a soft brush and apply a little almond oil.
• Before wearing it again, chant “Om Namah Shivaya” 11 times.
• Remove it before attending a funeral or during intimate relations.
• If consuming alcohol or non-vegetarian food, you may remove it and wear it again afterwards.
• Women can wear the Siddha Mala during all phases of life, including menstruation.
• For regular energization, touch it to a Shivling and chant Om Namah Shivaya 11 times.

A Rudrabhishek offers additional spiritual energization.

• Do not wear a Rudraksha that has already been worn by someone else.
• Keep separate malas for daily wear and mantra chanting (Japa).
• Avoid immersing the Mala in heavy liquids such as Ghee or Honey as they may enter the crevices of the bead and make it difficult to wear.
